Source code from which latest gw.exe was compiled includes files like GmItemMarketAddItem.cpp and ItCliMarket.cpp
GmItem* usually handles inventory actions like spliting stacks, while ItCli* usually handles gui like party window or inventory bags.

Maybe someone at Anet has cancelled the project because people found out about it and posted forums

Oh yeah, I'm sure businesses are in the habit of cancelling projects just to spite the sneaky peeky users.
I actually find it kind of funny that this has all the sudden gotten attention now. I revealed the marketplace info back in this thread here. Additionally, some guy named Raven Flameheart and I discussed this info and I mentioned that the strings were changing back in the
Mini Polar Bear thread. People had so much mini-mania that they overlooked it.

100 to 1 odds that this Xunlai Market never gets implemented.
50 to 1 odds that if it does, it will be to late to make any kind of impact and players will have an overall "meh" reaction to it.

Hmm, where to start...
I suppose it would make some sense to make this feature a reality in GW1 as we grow closer to GW2. If GW2 will hold a feature similar to this, where is the best place to test it in action? Our current Guild Wars. It would be a perfect way to see how players will operate it.
It's been said before and I believe it; In many aspects we are "testing" small details and ideas for Guild Wars 2. I believe that was first mentioned when EoTN level requirement was lowered and the "buff" was put in place.
As for Gaile not denying, or confirming, I don't blame her. As it stands right now, even though some of this code exists, all we're doing is speculating and adding to the rumor mill. When rumors don't come true, communities often have the bad habit of taking it out on the first person they see with a red name. It's almost like a Bull drawn to the waving of the Red Cape. I used to hold a job, oh about 9 years ago now, where I was the proverbial "Middle-man" between customer and client. I know all too well & it's why I use the term damned if you, damned if you don't quite often.
If she says Yes, it's coming and the system turns out not to be the way we "think" it will be, the torches will come out. If she says yes, there's a good chance we'll get it, but at the last minute it's cancelled, the torches come out. If she says No, it's not coming, the torches come out with the complaints of Why is there even code then?? If she says No, it's probably not coming, but it does get put in the game....yeah, torches again.
If this marketplace is something that's being worked on to be placed into the game (And to be honest I hope it does become reality) I will wait for official announcements of any temporary test periods (like the first /report testing). Until such time, any evidence of code, to me, is just signs of developers playing with ideas and testing them on how they can work well, what won't work well, and fine tuning those ideas.
I just hope, either way, the torches stay in storage regarding this topic

Mark me down for 10K.
Pretty safe bet for me. Either I pay nothing waiting for "never" to arrive, or I get a million out of the bet.

WTS Torches 10K per piece... use your own ele to light it
Yea, If you look at it. Not only was the eotn levelign to test for GW2... but also the report system. We will probably see additions or small changes to these things before GW2 is released with final (untill the next improvement that is) functions.
These processes are always dynamic... and if a company even wants to look remotely good, then they have to improve on their product continuously.

Gaile Grey and Andrew Patrick are both on this forum right now. If they wanted to answer (or had an answer) they would have given one.
However, they might as well tell us information on the Xunlai Marketplace, as we already know its been in testing for some time (according to the texts found in .dat).
Gaile and Patrick, we want some answers. No point holding back.

No doubt about it, development might well have been stopped for any number of reasons and the fact that it's there doesn't mean it'll ever see the light of day. However as a developer I well know how expensive engineering time is so personally I'm hoping they haven't just cut their losses on this one yet.

I don't set my hopes too high.
Had someone tried this?:
Browse the GW Disks for the files. If you can find them ...say on the factions CD or on one of the GW Special CDs, then I'm pretty sure it is a leftover and they have abandoned the project.
Or the development of the Xunlai MP is more difficult than expected and they need more time for this.
Both things can be possible.
I just pretend to not knowing anything about a market place and wait for the official statement or the big surprise, if it gets implemented.

This argument sucks since the files for the Marketplace keep getting added to/changed with each update still.

Correct, which is why it should be considered in production and thus an important discussion.
Yes, the files for Marketplace indicate they are brand new, and not old!

I wouldn't get too excited about this just yet because it most likely won't be delivered for some time for the simple reason that no strings have been localized and are only showing in English. This localization process alone tends to take quite a bit of time to deploy and qc.

If I was a dev, and it was actually happening, I'd delete it from the dat right before release, wait for the giant disappointment wave to hit, then add it in the update. I'm just a bit mean that way :P
In all seriousness though, doesn't anyone think we might be just a bit anal about all of this? Must tick the devs off and frustrate them to no end that they can't give us a surprise now and then. And then, when we do get one, we moan and complain about it.
Funny really.

Ahh yes we are all in the witch hunt on this one. As for real or not, it is quite obvious there is something in the works, be it sooner or later. As these files are continually being edited each update we get. The simple point of it saying dedicated points to development as recently as a month or 2 ago with the changes to the HoM and minipets, so there really is no way to say it is anything old, it is just a matter of when and if they can make it workable.

You know, I'd do the same thing.
I'm glad this was found, but I wish it hadn't been. I have a feeling that if it is implimented (which I hope it is!) it will have been built up in our minds so much that anything they release will be a disappointment. Whereas if it was;
A) Cancled, no one would have known or cared.
or
B) A nice surprise in the update notes, everyone would be very, very happy that anything like this was implimented at all, while ignoring the limitations that inevitably come with such a system... at least temporarily.
I personally would have loved to find out about this feature by having to download a huge update in mid April, going to wiki to see what skills they balanced this time and, surprise surprise, finding there's a new outpost in the Battle Isles specifically dedicated to a new Xunali Market place.
And demanding comments from Gaile or Andrew on this subject is a bit akin to sneaking into your parents closet to look at your... Wintersday... gifts and demanding that your parents comment on whether you or your siblings are getting this gift or that gift. When they announce it they will announce it, otherwise just leave them be; enjoy what bit of surprise you might have left in such an update.
BTW, put me down for 5k on that bet.
